Sources of stress in hospice medical directors and matronsHolme Tower Marie Curie Home, Penarth, Wales Palliative care generates considerable stress in hospice medical directors and matrons. In this survey, increased time working in the hospice correlates with suicidal thoughts in medical directors and a fear of burnout in matrons. Major sources of stress include management committees, administrative duties, relatives and the relationship between the medical director and matron.
