Claud Regnard

Kathryn Mannix

St Oswald's Hospice, Newcastle upon Tyne

Diarrhoea is here defined as a soft or fluid stool, usually (but not invariably) accompanied by increased frequency of defecation in patients with advanced cancer. This flow diagram looks at decisions required in diagnosing the cause, and briefly discusses some approaches to treatment.

Key Words: diarrhoea • neoplasms • palliative treatment
