Managing dysphagia in advanced cancer-a flow diagramSt Oswald's Hospice, Newcastle upon Tyne Dysphagia is here defined as difficulty in transferring solids, pastes or liquids from the oral cavity to the stomach in patients with advanced cancer. The clinical steps required to manage dysphagia are outlined and the importance of including a swallowing therapist in these decisions is emphasized.
