Nausea and vomiting in advanced cancer-a flow diagram

Claud Regnard

Mary Comiskey

Nausea and vomiting are common in advanced cancer and can have many causes. Successful treatment is possible in most patients when the clinician combines the history, symptoms, clinical examination and information about the patient's tumour, with existing knowledge about the mechanisms of nausea and vomiting. In this way antiemetics can be targeted at specific causes.

Key Words: antiemetics • nausea • neoplasms • palliative treatment • vomiting
