Organ donation: the hospice perspective
Organ donation following asystole in hospice patients is a relatively recent development. This paper looks at the development of organ donation in a hospice and considers the criteria and contra-indications for corneal, heart valve and kidney donation. A series of 12 asystolic kidney donors is presented; at the time of writing, 12 of the 24 grafted kidneys are functioning.
