Brief social work intervention in the hospice setting: person-centred work and crisis intervention synthesized and distilledPeter Bedford Association, Islington, London This essay explores the difficulties faced in a hospice when offering brief intervention work with the friends or relatives of patients. The relevance of various theories of intervention is explored and it is concluded that elements from a number of theories need to be applied flexibly when working for one or two meetings with people.
