St Oswald's Hospice, Newcastle upon Tyne Anger from any cause can block effective interaction between the patient and the carer. It has many possible causes, which may be rational, irrational (i.e. inappropriate or misdirected) or pathological. This flow diagram suggests strategies for handling anger in patients with advanced disease.
